Beautiful Belly Dance Veil for Beginners Made Easy : A 4 Week Series

Annya Ishtara belly dance, Taos NM

The veil is one of the most beautiful and ethereal props that that a belly dancer dances with. In fact, I hesitate to call it a prop because I actually think of it as an extension of my own energy and movement.

Dancing with a veil can be sensuous, mysterious, playful, and expansive.

And it can be daunting to learn to manage 3+ yards of fabric without entangling yourself, getting the veil in your face, or even dropping it!

But fear not!

Veil is one of my absolute favorite parts of belly dance, and I will share my veil expertise that I have learned from over 30 years of veil dancing in this 4-week series geared especially for dancers who are newer to veilwork.

You will discover how to tune into your veil so you can effortlessly swish, flourish, and mesmerize with your veil as you practice foundational moves and concepts for beautiful veilwork.

Even if you already have some veil experience, you will still get lots of great moves, combinations, and concepts to add to your veil repertoire.

You’ll learn:

  • How to hold your veil for best results
  • Finger-fabric drills to increase your comfort in manipulating your veil
  • Mesmerizing veil moves and sequences
  • How to use your veil to frame your gorgeous self and call attention to your luscious dance moves
  • What to do if you do accidentally drop your veil
  • A classic, simple veil wrap and how to dance out of it

The class includes 1 – 2 short practice videos each week to help support your learning.

The Beautiful Belly Dance Veil series will get you flying with your veil, even if veilwork is new to you.

You will need 3 yard/2.75 meter rectangular veil for this class. If you don’t already have one, you can check out my suggestions for choosing a veil in this short video.
